Our Appointment System Has Changed
We now offer 15 minute consultations with our GPs, with the choice of either a face to face or telephone appointments depending upon patient preference.
This allows our GPs more time to assess patient needs, and gives patients the opportunity to discuss their health needs in full.
Longer consultations reduces the need for regular repeat appointments, opening up more appointment availability for our patients.
We do encourage patients to use the NHS website to check that a GP appointment is needed before booking - click here to see the NHS 'how to treat common ailments' advice page
We have both male and female doctors available on most days.
How To Make An Appointment
We only take appointment bookings by telephone on 01279 730616 - please do not come to the surgery to book
Routine appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance. Please call after 10.00am Monday to Friday to book.
Same day appointments for urgent problems can be booked from 8.15 Monday to Friday.
In order to offer you the best service we can, the Reception team will request some details:
- How can I help?
- Can you give me an idea of the problem?
- Is this an on-going, new or urgent problem?
The receptionist will not make a clinical assessment, but needs this information to direct you to the most skilled Clinician specific to your problem. Please note this may not always be a GP - it could be a nurse or one of our other clinical specialists.
We recommend that follow-up appointments are made at the reception desk before you leave the surgery - and be aware that Mondays are always our busiest day and maybe best avoided.
Non-Attendance and How to Cancel an Appoinment
Now you can easily cancel an appoinment by calling the appointments line and selecting the first option to leave a voice message stating you name, date of birth, and brief appointment details. You do not need to queue to do this.
Sometimes We Run Late
We aim to see patients as close as possible to their appointment time but for a variety of reasons clinics can be running late. Please be tolerant – extra time will also be given to you if required. We will make an effort to keep you informed, or you can ask a member of the reception team for an update.
Chaperones
Chaperones can be provided upon request.
If you would like a Chaperone present during all or part of your examination, then please advise the clinician.
