    BE AWARE

If someone claiming to be from the NHS contacts you by phone and asks for a payment, please be aware they could be a criminal trying to trick you. Most NHS services are free at the point of use and NHS professionals are very unlikely to ask for fees such as prescription charges by phone. We advise you not to share bank account details or any other information unless you are sure of who you are talking to.

    Prescription Cost

The NHS prescription charge is £9.00 for each item from 1st April 2019. Some items have more than one charge, a member of the dispensary team will explain if that is the case. The NHS prescription charge is a contribution to the NHS; it is not a payment to the surgery or its dispensary and it is not related to the cost of your medicine(s). If you need at least 4 prescription items in three months , you could save money with a Prescription Prepayment Certificate. Visit www.nhs.uk/healthcosts Prescriptions are free for some people , ask a member of the dispensary team or visit www.nhs.uk/healthcosts.

Breast Screening Helpline now available !

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt has today announced an issue with the NHS Breast Screening Programme, which led to some women who were due to be invited for a final routine scan between their 68th and 71st birthdays failing to receive their invitation. Up to 309,000 women aged between 70 and 79 will now be offered the opportunity for a catch-up NHS breast screening test this year. The decision follows analysis by Public Health England (PHE) dating back to 2009, which found that a number of invitations for a final test had not been sent out to women between their 68th and 71st birthdays. The total number of older women affected since 2009 is estimated to be approximately 450,000. A dedicated advice line has been set up for women who believe they did not receive an invitation. Please call 0800 169 2692
