Covid Vaccine update:
Its great news that the Oxford AstraZeneca Covid vaccine has been approved. We would kindly ask our patients not to contact us in the meantime, but As soon as we know when we are scheduled to get the vaccination we will be in touch with our patients accordingly.
Thank you for your co-operation.
Hopefully you will be aware that NHS England is very keen for everyone who is eligible for a flu vaccination to get one as soon as possible. We also need to be mindful of the need for social distancing, keeping both you and the staff safe.
Therefore the way that we are going to run our flu clinics this year has had to change. You will be invited in to the surgery at an allocated time slot, we are not able to offer you an appointment time, so please do not phone in. If you are not able to accept the time slot allocated to you, please do not worry we will be in touch to offer you another slot, or you can email us on firstname.lastname@example.org
In order to maintain social distancing and health and safety, you will be asked to queue in the car park until the clinician is ready to see you. The car park will be empty of cars, and you will not be allowed to park there, so please be mindful of residents where you do park, and allow a little bit more time to get to the surgery.
PLEASE WEAR A FACE COVERING/MASK.
At the entrance of the building you will be asked to take roll up your sleeve or remove your outer garments so that your arm is clear for the injection; you will have your temperature taken; and you will be given a ball of cotton wool for after the injection. You will then be invited in to the treatment room where you will be asked to confirm your personal details, and then receive your injection. You will be asked to exit through the fire doors to avoid contact with incoming patients.
It is really important that we vaccinate as many people as possible in September so that you are protected against the flu virus later in the year. Please do bear with us in this unusual year, as we try to keep you safe.

We understand that everyone is anxious and would like their Covid Vaccination as soon as possible. But please refrain from calling the surgery regarding this.
We are taking over an extra 300 calls per day regarding Covid Vaccinations and its putting immense pressure on the team and making it more difficult for other patients to get through to us.
As soon as we have notification of vaccinations we will be in touch. We have staff and volunteers at the ready for clinics to be arranged.
It is a difficult and stressful time for everyone and we thank you for your co-operation.

The Practice was founded by Drs John and Kate Bennison in 1959. It was originally based in their house in Hatfield Broad Oak, and was combined with a mobile surgery which they drove around the villages. The first surgery in Hatfield Heath was built in 1968 and was replaced with the present building in 1990. When the Drs Bennison retired in 1988, the practice at Hatfield Broad Oak moved into temporary accommodation and then moved again to Cannons Lane in 1989. Over the years, the number of patients we serve has increased from 700 to over 9000.
