GP GMS Contract Changes

On 1st October the GMS contract for GPs changed, requiring GP Practices to provide online communication for patients during working hours.
Eden Surgeries, via this link on the website already gives patients the opportunity to contact us with requests to book an apointment, and raise health questions or admin queries - which we will respond to within 48 hours.
The new requirement do NOT require GP surgeries to provide an online total triage appointment booking service, as suggested by certain sections of the media.
At this time, it is felt that an total triage system of appointment booking is not in the best interests of Eden patients, based on feedback from Practices who do offer this service and weighing up the socio-demographic profile of our patient population.
Please note that Eden already offers online booking for Flu/Covid, cervical smears, and other procedures subject to invitation.
